Romy came home today. She is severely pissed at me.

I went over to MSU and got lessons on how to give insulin injections to a diabetic cat before I got to take her home. They shaved spots on her shoulders to make it easier for me to see what I am doing. She looks funny but until I get the knack it is probably for the best.

There is a lot of fur on this cat so being sure that I actually get the insulin in her is necessary at this point.

Later this evening I got the biopsy results and the tumor was benign. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-) So I have to be very careful about Romy's diet, give her shots at each meal and she should do well. Giant sigh of relief!

one down, thousands to go

I was successful in giving Romy her insulin injection. I think I need more practice filling the needle. Air bubbles are us. I only give her a unit which is the smallest increment on the syringe so I don't need half her dosage being air.

I accosted the poor cat while curled up in a sun spot after lunch (directions say give injection 10 minutes after she eats). Emptied syringe into her but was a bit difficult because the shaved spots the vets had made for ease of injections were mostly facing down.
